With increased emphasis on personalised learning and metacogiiton, the focus is on helping students to understand how they learn and to take responsibility for the process. Teachers are asked to engage in more dialogue with learners but at the same time to make then more independent. Whatever the sector, age group or ability level, good teaching and the proper control of behaviour is seen to rely on learning as an active process that needs to be discussed. At the same time, research shows that 'learning how to learn' is most profitably discussed in a specific subject or vocational context.

There may be several versions of a single idea according to age or ability level, adapted to make some work more visual or kinaesthetic. Every file is analysed by length, word count, reading age, reading ease score and grade level. The whole suite is therefore useful for CPD and teacher training, as well as day-to-day support for busy teachers.
Many information sheets have questions attached for reinforcement, so they also serve as comprehension exercises.
